Lonza’s Tanalith® preservative product family is a range of metal based water borne preservatives for demanding outdoor, agricultural and utility wood products. The family of Tanalith® preservatives provide robust protection against decay and insects in all outdoor situations including ground contact and even in sea water contact. Supported with Lonza’s treatment process and engineering skills, Tanalith® preservatives have been the foundation of the wood protection industry in our region. The Treatment Process

Tanalith® preservatives are usually applied using a high performance vacuum pressure process for full penetration treatment. A typical pressure process with Tanalith® preservative is demonstrated in this video.

Tanalith® E Preservative (Asia, Aust, NZ)

Tanalith® E preservative is a copper-based formulation for the protection of wood and timber products in general outdoor and ground contact use. It is particularly suitable for treatment of wood where frequent and direct human contact is expected such as decking and play equipment. This advanced timber preservative incorporates copper in combination with azole co-biocide wood protection system.

  • Synergistic combination of copper and azole biocides.
  • Waterborne formulation.
  • Stable and easy to use.
  • Suitable for H3, H4 and H5 applications.
  • Available with Tanatone® Terra Rossa in-treatment colouring system and BARamine® penetration enhancement additive.

Tanalith® Eµ Preservative (Fiji, NZ)

Incorporates the same well proven combination of copper and azole biocides as Tanalith® E preservative.

  • Active constituents are presented in a dispersed or micronised form.
  • Results in a lighter, more natural timber colour.
  • Reduced corrosion on metal fixings and fasteners.
  • Approved for H3.2, H4, H5.

Tanalith® Q preservative (Asia, NZ)

Copper quaternary preservatives have been in use for over 30 years and provide good performance for general outdoor and ground contact wood applications. Lonza’s Tanalith® Q preservative incorporates the latest technology in this well proven class.

  • One of the most widely accepted wood preservatives globally.

Tanalith® CY Preservative (Asia)

Tanalith® CY preservative is a version of the well known copper azole based Tanalith® preservatives developed specifically for the demanding Japanese market.

  • Incorporates copper and the high performance azole fungicide cyproconazole.
  • Micro-emulsion formulation for penetration of refractory timber.
  • Japan AQ and JIS approved.

Tanalith® CCA Preservative (Asia, Aust, NZ)

CCA is an acronym for Copper Chromium Arsenate and it was originally invented in the 1930’s by Dr Sonti Karmasan in India. Tanalith® CCA preservative has the proud record of being among the first industrial wood preservatives to be used in much of the Asia Pacific region up to 70 years ago and is still in wide use today. This remarkable preservative is still the preferred choice for wood in ground contact and other situations that demand the best long term resistance to decay, termites and even marine organisms.

  • Approved for all treatment levels up to and including H6.
  • Highly cost effective and with unmatched durability for ground contact and utility applications.
